Penni-Lynn Rolen MSN, RN, CNS
Position: Dean, School of Nursing at Hondros College
Penni Lynn-Rolen, MSN, RN, CNS, serves as our Associate Dean for the Cleveland Campus. Ms. Lynn-Rolen was most recently the Director of the Huron Schools of Nursing in the Cleveland Clinic Health System. She has been a nurse educator for over 18 years. Prior to education, she was a Med-Surg Nurse at Mt. Sinai in Cleveland. She is the President Elect of the Ohio League of Nursing and will serve as president in 2012.
Alan Strautman, PhD
Position: Associate Dean of Science and General Education, School of Nursing at Hondros College
Alan Strautman, PhD has been teaching Anatomy and Physiology for 13 years at colleges and universities across the nation. His use of technology in teaching and his emphasis on active learning has won him praise from students and fellow faculty members alike. He has helped many of his colleagues enhance student learning with the judicious use technology. His penchant for donuts, both as treats and as analogies of biological structures, is legendary.
Dr. Strautman earned his bachelor's degree in Zoology from Miami University and completed his Ph.D. in Biology from Purdue University. He continued doing primarily research with postdoctoral studies at the University of California, Davis where he studied mechanisms of intracellular signaling during fertilization and then the intracellular physiology of calcium ions following neurotrauma at The Upjohn Company.
Although he enjoyed the intrigue of research, he decided to pursue academic positions that focused more on teaching. Some of the schools where he has taught include: Kalamazoo College in Michigan, William Jewell College in Missouri, Wake Tech Community College in North Carolina, State Technical and Community College, Raymond Walters College and Miami University Middletown.
Sheila Butler, MSN, RN
Position: Associate Dean, School of Nursing at Hondros College
Sheila Butler has been a nurse for over 30 years, in roles that encompass staff nursing to administrative positions. At Hondros College, Ms. Butler has a duel role as Associate Dean for the West Chester, Dayton and Westerville, Ohio campuses, and Director of Nursing for the Westerville Campus. Most recently Ms. Butler served as Director of Nursing for Bryant and Stratton College in Cleveland, Ohio.
Ms. Butler is a graduate of University of Phoenix where she received her Masters of Science in Nursing, and Case Western Reserve for her Bachelor of Science. Currently, she is working toward her Doctorate of Nursing at Walsh University.
